Post Yahoo Overture
Hi there,

I’m quite new to marketing online and study different possibilities. I recently started a Google AdWords campaign but I didn’t obtain good results. I was just wandering if the same service offered by Yahoo is better than Google.
Can you give me some opinions, please?

Thanks,

Magda

Hi Magda,

I have worked with both Google and Overture with sponsored search marketing for a few years now. I have found Google to offers the biggest amount of internet traffic you can currently get. The trick of getting Google to work is to use the right keywords with the most attractive creative and your average cost per click will begin to drop depending on the competition.

Overture on the other hand offers less traffic at a higher price ($0.10 minimum spend per click). They do however offer an account executive if you spend a certain amount of money per month. This can be a blessing as they will write your copy and a curse as they will offer you high volume keywords that will bring in traffic but will cost the most to bid on. Overture works by basic bid system. If you are willing to pay the most for a click you will be number one. However people can out bid you if they wish.

At the end of the day both can work every well if you work to a budget and see what is working well on one account and apply it to the other.

After Yahoo launches YPN, things may change a bit.

This will provide a deep-pockets competitor to the AdWords/AdSense powerhouse, and an alternative for webmasters interested in publishing ads. This in turn will provide more potential for Overture ads to be seen.
