Dan Thies - a useless post
Hi, Phil... sorry to bust into your forum with a goofy title like that, but I need to demonstrate to someone how their name might trigger an Adsense ad when used in the title of a page.
If anyone is looking for a link to one of my useless posts, you won't find it here. This *is* the useless post by Dan Thies.

what will the Dan Thies adsense ad take before it displays? Isn't there a 1-3 day time difference?

It might not work here because of the the general topic of the forum, and all that implies, my sig containing those three letters we all know and love, etc.
Right now it looks like your sig is going to drive them to display ads for your fellow hyperlink agriculturalists.

I'm getting just hosting ads, Dan Thies. I'm not seeing anything related to Dan Thies.
Silly question, but are you sure that Dan Thies would trigger some adsense ads? Don't answer that - I just saw a couple on Google - not specifically Dan Thies, but relevant just the same.
Anyway, you are more than welcome to test for Dan Thies here. But why not demonstrate it in Goolge - or is it just Dan Thies related AdSense you're demonstrating.
The thread pages do tend to attract seo type ads, but I see very specific ones from time to time, so I'd think that "Dan Thies" related ads would appear - given enough encouragement.
This post is an attempt to swing the balance in favor of Dan Thies - the world renowned............the world renowned.............the wor... What the hell are you, Dan??? ;)

It shouldn't take many minutes for the Dan Thies related, or page-specific, ads to show.

Looks like the PageRank/LinkPop ads are going to dominate this page.
Aaron Wall (SEOBook) has been running Adwords/Adsense campaigns on a lot of folks' names. One of them didn't see how his name could trigger a content-based ad, but I pointed out that a lot of forums and blogs have his name on them.
Just thought it would be fun to pop over here, since you run Adsense, and see if we could trigger one. I bet if I increase my bid for "Dan Thies" to a couple bucks, the ads would appear.

That last bit is a joke - right?
If it had been heavier with "Dan Thies" to start with, it would have triggered it very quickly I think. But once it's been spidered, it probably won't get spidered again for a little while. That's my thinking anyway

Well, it's a joke in the sense that I'm not bidding more than a nickel for my name, but yes, I do target my name in Adsense - makes sense to get my ads to appear on my own articles whenever possible.

I did a search for Dan Thies when I posted ealier, and you didn't show in AdWords, but I suppose you're only targeting AdSense.

The ad that's going to show on SERPs right now says "Aaron Wall Likes My Book," but I'll change it back to the old ad soon. It's not actually possible to target Adsense separately in Google's system, which sucks but it's how they operate.

we could always start a new thread and saturate the living daylights out of it quickly.
I wonder how hard it would be to googlebomb aaron for "most useless seo book"
Yes, I have actually read most of it.

It depends on how much of your inventory you're willing to dedicate to another goofy personal attack. At least you got paid for the other one, right?
I haven't read Aaron's book since it was the beginnings of a draft, but I do like his blog and newsletter. Most blogs and news sources want to cover every spare transaction (PPCYouNeverHeardOf1.com buys PPCYouNeverHeardOf2.com in a stock swap valued at 47 cents). Aaron doesn't waste my time with that stuff, and he's often the first one to tip me off to new resources.

I meant the book itself. Must as I dislike Aaron for being nothing but a follower, his blog is decent enough.
Which "other one" would that be?

That would be those "SEO Bitch" links that made it so easy to map out your link farm. You did get paid for that, didn't you?
